Model Description

The KTM 250 EXC-F, the smallest model of the KTM 4-stroke range, is a great choice for motivated amateurs and ambitious pros alike. It has a super compact, powerful engine that combines minimal weight and masses positioned close to its centre of gravity to deliver awe-inspiring performance and unbelievable handling in its class. Sharing many components with the successful KTM 350 EXC-F powerplant, the engine offers class-leading performance with plenty of torque thanks to its state-of-the-art fuel injection system. The KTM 250 EXC-F instils confidence with superb handling, fantastic throttle response, perfectly controllable but lively power delivery and the latest technologies, which combine to place this bike at the top of its segment.

CYLINDER HEAD
The centerpiece of the compact DOHC engine is a cutting-edge cylinder head, featuring two overhead camshafts driving four titanium valves via super lightweight cam followers with a hard DLC (diamond-like carbon) coating.
 
TRANSMISSION
The 4-stroke engine transmits its power to the rear wheel via a robust 6-speed transmission. The gear ratios have been selected and optimized specifically for the requirements of Enduro riders, who will be delighted with the fast gear changes. KTM's No-Dirt technology is designed to protect the joint of the gear shift lever from becoming clogged with dirt and grime in order to increase reliability. All KTM 4-stroke Enduros are equipped with a gear position sensor. Based on the data it provides, the engine management system selects the optimum power curve.

CLUTCH
The Brembo hydraulic system is one of the best there is on the Enduro market. Whether shortly after the start, on long rides or in tough competitive events – the Brembo system operates the clutch reliably and the pressure point remains unchanged, regardless of the operating temperature. The DDS (damped diaphragm steel) clutch developed by KTM has a single diaphragm spring instead of conventional coil springs. The rider benefits in that he requires less effort to operate the clutch. The damping system integrated directly inside the clutch hub increases traction and extends the life of the clutch.
 
ENGINE
The DOHC (double overhead camshaft) engine of the KTM 250 EXC-F is a perfect example of a compact, lightweight design. It also develops the highest torque in its class and has power on tap all the way up to 12,800 rpm. Another feature is that it has been designed with the masses centralized close to the bike's ideal center of gravity, with the result that the single-cylinder engine is a key factor behind the extraordinary handling. Contributing to the low weight of 27.6 kg is the proven E-starter which ensures the KTM 250 EXC-F starts up reliably in cold weather.
 
ENGINE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
The state-of-the-art Keihin engine management system with electronic fuel injection features a 42 mm throttle body. Due to the unique position of the injector, power is available instantly and is easy to control. In addition, there are separate systems for cold start and idle adjustment. The rider can also select the appropriate power curve on the optionally available map select switch and activate traction control for maximum grip. Incidentally, the KTM 250 EXC-F is the only Enduro in its class with traction control.
 
E-STARTER
The E-starter fitted as standard to the KTM 250 EXC-F demonstrates its strong points particularly when things get hairy in race situations. A for model year 2019 even stronger Mitsuba starter motor combined with a lightweight lithium ion battery and KTM's proven starter drive ensures that the KTM 250 EXC-F springs into life quickly and reliably even under the most extreme conditions.

Offroad racing is really at the core of KTM and the recognizable KTM EXC SIX DAYS models are a real center point of our Enduro line-up.
